Dr. Parsons’ Shoulder Expertise Leads To International Recognition

Jul 28, 2021

A fellowship trained shoulder and elbow surgeon, Dr. Moby Parsons has devoted his career to the field of joint replacement surgery with a specific niche focus on shoulder replacement. After 18 years of practice, Parsons estimates he has performed close to 1200 shoulder replacements including complex revision cases. Parsons has teamed up with Exactech Inc., an implant design company in Gainesville Florida to focus on the evolution of shoulder replacement and his efforts have fostered the world-wide adoption of a surgical navigation tool known as GPS (Guided Personalized Surgery). Parsons has been involved in several academic research studies addressing outcomes of reverse total shoulder replacement and these contributions have led to his election as an active member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He is one of only 2 active surgeons in NH with this accolade.

These efforts have promoted Parsons’ invitation to present at international meetings on his expertise on multiple factors associated with shoulder replacement including: 1) preoperative planning; 2) surgical navigation; 3) artificial intelligence in predicting post-surgical outcomes; 4) complications of shoulder replacement and others. Parsons was recently invited to present at the New Zealand Shoulder and Elbow Society Annual Meeting on a host of these topics as they relate to the future of shoulder replacement. He will also be speaking virtually at the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia in November 2021.

In addition to these projects, Dr. Parsons serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the Journal of ArthroplastyClinical Orthopaedics and Related Research and Current Opinion in Orthopedics. He is an expert in primary and revision surgery of the knee, hip and shoulder and he himself has undergone both hip and shoulder replacement which has given him a unique perspective on the recovery from these procedures. If you are interested in learning more about our expertise in joint replacement surgery, please contact our knee, hip and shoulder center here.
