Thomas V. King, MD
Dr. King has special expertise and extensive experience in total knee, hip and shoulder replacement and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. After completing his College, Medical School, General Surgical and Orthopedic training at Harvard, he joined the Harvard Medical School Faculty to teach students, Residents and Fellows the art and science of knee, hip and shoulder surgery. His basic science research at Harvard Medical School included the novel use of growth factors and bioactive molecules. Clinical research focused on methods to make joint replacements more durable by advanced surgical techniques. Teaching has been a central interest throughout his career including the introduction of surgical techniques for total knee replacement to Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic. He is an honorary member of the Hungarian Orthopedic society. He has led numerous medical missions to Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Over the past five years, Dr. King has pioneered Rapid Recovery after Same Day Total Joint Replacement. His experience of over 6000 joint replacements, has allowed his patients to walk and do stairs immediately after surgery, go home within hours of the surgery with no overnight hospital stay and achieve the same level of recovery in 3 to 6 weeks that normally takes 3 to 6 months. By orchestrating the many facets of the surgical and rehabilitation process, he has been able to document better outcomes after a faster recovery and an earlier return to work and avocations.
